A PURDUE POLYTECHNIC HIGH SCHOOL

Facilities & Learning

A Campus Designed for Creativity, Community, and Discovery

Broad Ripple

PPHS Broad Ripple is located in a vibrant, walkable neighborhood known for its arts, music, and culture—an ideal setting for a school that encourages innovation and self-expression. Inside the school, you’ll find open-concept learning spaces designed to support the way students actually learn: through collaboration, movement, and hands-on exploration.

Facilities

Our classrooms are flexible and student-centered, with zones for small group work, project labs, and quiet focus areas.

Beyond the classroom, students have access to:

  • A fully equipped maker space for prototyping and design

  • A music production lab with recording equipment and sound editing tools

  • Indoor and outdoor gathering areas that promote wellness and connection

  • Multi-use common areas for exhibitions, guest speakers, and student showcases

Just like our learning model, the space is built to grow with students. At Broad Ripple, school doesn’t feel like a traditional high school and that’s exactly the point. It’s a place where students feel at home, inspired, and ready to shape their future.

Real Credits. Real World Learning.

At PPHS Broad Ripple, students earn full credit toward their high school diploma through a mix of traditional coursework, dual credit options, and immersive, hands-on projects we call Passion Projects.

While every student still takes foundational classes like English, Algebra, U.S. History, and Biology, their day is shaped by something far more personal: what they care about.

Students choose from a rotating lineup of Passion Projects that bring core standards to life. These aren’t just “fun classes”, they’re rigorous, student-led explorations that build academic, career, and life skills.

Passion Projects

Some of the featured Passion Projects at PPHS Broad Ripple Include:

  • Decorate the School
Students design and paint ceiling tiles to brighten the school hallways. Along the way, they interview staff for inspiration and learn how public art can build community.

  • Broadcast Journalism
Students produce a weekly video newscast, write for the school newspaper, and learn video editing, storytelling, and on-camera skills used in real media careers.

  • Robotics Team
As part of the VEX Robotics competition team, students design, test, and improve robots using CAD software and engineering notebooks, learning teamwork and problem-solving.

  • Hit Makers: Making the Band
Students form small groups to write, record, and perform original music or covers. This project builds confidence, collaboration, and creative expression.

  • Science Research & Careers
Students design their own lab experiments, tour real-world labs like Eli Lilly, and explore career pathways in science and technology.

  • Creative Writing & Poetry
Students write short stories, poems, and essays, then publish them in a class anthology. They also hear from guest authors and visit local bookstores for inspiration.

  • Adulting 101
Students learn practical life skills like budgeting, choosing a career, and renting an apartment, building the tools they need for life after high school.

College Credit Without the Price Tag

Want to get a head start on college? You can earn real college credit while you’re still in high school at no cost. Many of our students begin working toward a Purdue degree before they even graduate. That means big savings on tuition and a smoother transition to college.
