PPHS Englewood Teacher of the Year: Coach Nicole Schadek

Coach Schadek embodies the essence of an outstanding educator and mentor. Her colleagues, students, and their families consistently highlight her dedication, empathy, and support. One student shared, "Schadek is such a helpful, understanding, and respectful teacher. Schadek is a great advocate for her students, knows exactly what they need to get themselves back on track, and never gives up on her students, no matter how bad they want her to." Another remarked on her dual role, stating, "She should be Teacher of the Year because she is always working hard on the academic side and the track coach side." Parents have also expressed deep gratitude for her compassionate intervention during challenging times. Her ability to create a safe and nurturing environment, both in the classroom and on the track, is a testament to her remarkable character and commitment. PPHS Broad Ripple Teacher of the Year: Brian Williams

Coach Brian Williams, a true student-centered educator, possesses a unique ability to nurture the genius within each student. His colleagues and students alike are in awe of his dedication to creating an environment where learning thrives and individual talents are celebrated. One colleague noted, "He consistently goes above and beyond to help students. He has the biggest class, teaches the hardest subject, and offers really cool projects." A student added, "Coach Brian is upbeat, positive, and genuinely cares about the students and co-workers of PPHS." Through his work, he inspires not only academic success but also personal growth, making him an exceptional candidate for Teacher of the Year. Coach Brian's excellent attitude and dedication to pushing students to reach higher have more than earned him this well-deserved recognition.

PPHS South Bend Teacher of the Year: Heather Heston

Coach Heather Heston exemplifies the essence of an exceptional educator through her commitment to student growth and learning. She goes above and beyond to ensure each student understands the material, offering personal explanations and innovative ways to connect with them. A student shared, "She is the most understanding while also helping her students understand any and all work; she helped me deal with my bad anxiety with speaking in front of people." A parent shared how her mentorship has made a significant impact: "Alex actively loves her class and looks forward to it every day. Coach Heston is patient, kind, and values her students for who they are." Her dedication extends beyond her English classroom, as she has also taken on the challenge of supporting MLL students, keeping them focused and advancing. A colleague noted, "She's been an absolute all-star regarding the services and support we're able to provide to MLL students." Additionally, Coach Heston has enriched our community through her Passion Projects, bringing in experts and empowering students to explore their interests. Coach Jimmie Centers has quickly become an indispensable part of our community, bringing joy, support, and invaluable contributions to both students and staff. His approachable and friendly demeanor makes him the go-to person for students who need a listening ear or a good laugh during tough times. One student captured his essence, saying, "He’s just that right person. That right friend. The perfect coach." Colleagues praise his dedication and willingness to help, with one noting, "He has gone above and beyond helping me get programs going, building stuff, moving stuff, and giving me helpful suggestions." Coach Jimmie's contributions have been significant and deeply felt throughout the school. His positive attitude, hard work, and genuine care for everyone make him truly deserving of this recognition. PPHS South Bend Support Staff of the Year: Lupita Rios

We are thrilled to recognize Lupita Rios as PPHS South Bend Support Staff Member of the Year. Rios is an exemplary educator whose dedication and commitment to her students and colleagues are truly commendable. One colleague remarked, "She went on maternity leave and literally so much had to be pieced together for things to run smoothly. This place would literally fall apart without her." Her willingness to assist students and her incredible work ethic are evident in every aspect of her job. Even while on leave, she ensured that emails were answered and attendance was correctly managed. Students and parents alike appreciate her friendly nature and effective communication. One student shared, "She is always trying to make students laugh and if you have a problem she either has an answer or knows someone that has an answer." Coach Rios's ability to create a positive and supportive environment and exceptional problem-solving skills make her an invaluable asset to our school. PPHS Broad Ripple Support Staff of the Year: Laura Smith

Laura Smith truly embodies the mission of PPHS by consistently going above and beyond to support both students and staff. Her colleagues often describe her as the glue that holds our team together, always offering a kind word and support for our community. One colleague said, "She really is the heart and soul of our school." Laura's dedication extends far beyond her regular duties; she is always available to help throughout the building and never complains, regardless of the task. Another colleague noted, "She is there whenever anyone is in need, she helps throughout the building and I never hear her complain about anything outside of her normal routine." Laura’s remarkable ability to keep everything running smoothly and her genuine care for everyone around her make her truly deserving of this prestigious award. Congratulations, Laura!
