Why PPHS Was Created

Purdue Polytechnic High School was created with one bold goal: to give more students a real chance at college and career success, especially students who have been left out by traditional school systems.

In 2017, Purdue University partnered with Indianapolis city leaders, educators, and industry experts to build a new kind of high school. One that focused on hands-on learning, personal support, and a clear path to college. A school where students could connect their education to real life, and where passion drives progress.

A New Kind of High School

PPHS was built from the ground up to be different.

Instead of rows of desks and long lectures, students at PPHS learn by doing. They take on real projects, solve real problems, and work alongside adults who believe in their potential. The learning is hands-on, rigorous, and fully aligned to Indiana state standards. Students earn credit for every required course and have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement (AP) classes and college-level coursework that prepares them for what’s next.

Here, learning is active. It is personal. It means something.

A Path to Purdue and Beyond

PPHS was designed to help more students reach Purdue University, especially those underrepresented in college and STEM careers. Through strong academic preparation, dual credit opportunities, and mentorship, students build the skills and confidence to succeed.

Not every student chooses Purdue, and that is something we support too. Our graduates go on to all types of futures. Whether they choose college, a career, the military, or a trade program, we help them build a path they are proud of.

From One Campus to Four

PPHS started with one campus in Indianapolis. Today, we serve students across four campuses in Indiana:

PPHS Englewood

PPHS Broad Ripple

PPHS South Bend

PPHS LAB

Each campus serves a unique community but shares the same commitment: student-centered learning, inclusive culture, and real-world readiness.

What Comes Next

We are proud of what our students have achieved and how much they have grown. PPHS is more than a school. It is a place where students find their strengths, use their voice, and shape their future.

And we are just getting started.
