Englewood Experience

At most high schools, every student follows the same schedule. At Purdue Polytechnic High School, every student follows their own path. Here, no two student schedules look exactly alike. That’s because learning is built around each student’s interests, goals, and growth.

Some students start the day designing robots. Others head to internships, work on passion projects, complete an AP art course, meet 1:1 with a coach, or tackle a math challenge with support from a coach.

Whether they’re catching up, moving ahead, or discovering something new, every student’s day is built with purpose.

Scroll down to see what a day can really look like — for students just starting out, students finding their voice, and students getting ready to take on the world.

A Day in the Life

A Day in the Life: Raina

A Day in the Life:
Raina

Raina is a 10th-grade student who loves the environment, big ideas, and getting involved. At PPHS, she’s found a place to learn, lead, and shape her future.

Advisory
Raina starts her morning by checking in with her advisory coach, setting her goals for the day, and reviewing progress toward her project deadlines. Advisory is a time for students to get organized, connect, and get support.

Passion Project
This cycle, Raina joined Coach LaBounty’s urban agriculture project. She and her team are researching how community gardens and rooftop beehives could improve city living and access to fresh food.

Math
Raina is preparing to take dual-credit math classes next year. She meets one-on-one with her math coach to review the quadratic formula, then moves to a study space to complete an online practice session. By the end of the hour, she feels confident and ready for what’s next.

Lunch
Raina spends her lunch break with friends, talking through ideas for their newsletter and catching up on school news.

Independent Project
Raina and her classmates are creating a student newsletter. Today, they’re interviewing athletes and teachers, writing drafts, and planning their first edition. With help from their coach, they’re learning how to manage deadlines, write for an audience, and lead a team.

Spanish
Raina works independently on Spanish and takes an assessment on present-tense verbs. She passes and unlocks her next lesson for the following day.

After School
Before heading home, Raina attends a student council meeting where she’s helping plan the next school-wide passion project showcase.
