Our Story

Why PPHS Was Created

Purdue Polytechnic High School was created with one bold goal: to give more students a real chance at college and career success, especially students who have been left out by traditional school systems.

In 2017, Purdue University partnered with Indianapolis city leaders, educators, and industry experts to build a new kind of high school. One that focused on hands-on learning, personal support, and a clear path to college. A school where students could connect their education to real life, and where passion drives progress.

A New Kind of High School

Instead of rows of desks and long lectures, students at PPHS learn by doing. They take on real projects, solve real problems, and work alongside adults who believe in their potential. The learning is hands-on, rigorous, and fully aligned to Indiana state standards. Students earn credit for every required course and have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement (AP) classes and college-level coursework that prepares them for what’s next.

Here, learning is active. It is personal. It means something.

What Comes Next?

We are proud of what our students have achieved and how much they have grown. PPHS is more than a school. It is a place where students find their strengths, use their voice, and shape their future.

And we are just getting started. Want to see how PPHS is rethinking high school?
